Sinead O'Connor's luminescent spirit and powerful presence is undeniable

Sinead is one of the purest throated singers that this world has ever known and yet like a swan on a lake of geese she's never had the respect she deserves.  She has endured years of chastisement every time she has appeared onstage as a result of ripping up a photo of the Catholic Pope on American television in protest of allegations of child abuse by Catholic Priests in America, which at the time was just being uncovered and has since blown up in the Churches face.  Nonetheless, Sinead O'Connor's singing voice, luminescent spirit, and powerful presence is undeniable.

Sinead speaks of suffering from bipolar disorder in one of her interviews (red dress):
I want to interject with the fact that Bi-Polar disorder or Manic Depression is a widely known "mental disorder," and yet it may actually signify a more highly developed and evolved brain structure, which is capable of merging the two brain hemispheres for them each to work in symphony rather than one or the other operating independently.  It is my own theory that once the two hemispheres of a bipolar subject are psychologically balancing with each other the usual bi-polar negativity is diminished to the point that the individual can begin living a much more fruitful life and his or her innate genius will then become the norm.

In the case of medicating a bi-polar person:
I believe it is very detrimental to a human's well-being to be medicated unless they are really doing some harm to themselves or harming another.  Psychotropic medications only exacerbate an already less than desirable human condition with behaviors either escalating or non-productive and comatose-like living.
